Around 13:10 uninvolved ski tourers reported an avalanche from the so-called Kleinen Königskogel in the area of Mürzsteg via emergency call. According to initial information, a large avalanche should have carried away a ski tourer. A planned avalanche operation was started. Because of the bad weather conditions no helicopters could fly into the area of operation, task forces of the mountain rescue as well as alpine police ascended to the avalanche cone. The search operation as well as the surveys carried out did not reveal any evidence of an injured or missing person. The Alpine Police Hochsteiermark (six people), the Mountain Rescue Mürztal area (30 people), two emergency helicopters, a police helicopter and three avalanche dog handlers and rescue dog of the Styrian Mountain Rescue were in action.
