During our planned lift exercise on the Stuhleck, we were alerted to an operation on the Rax. 3 people were undertaking a mountain tour on the Rax. The group arrived at the Karl-Ludwig-Haus at 2:15 p.m., but the weather became increasingly bad due to rising fog and wind. Despite the bad weather, the group decided to descend further and took a wrong turn, which led to rugged and steep terrain. At around 16:00, they made an emergency call and the police helicopter was notified. Due to the bad weather, however, no rescue activities could be undertaken. An alpine police officer and 17 comrades from our local station climbed up to the already hypothermic and severely weakened people. When the advance team, consisting of the alpine policeman and two mountain rescuers, came across the three people, they were given first aid. The whole group then descended together and the rescuers accompanied them down to the valley. All persons remained uninjured. See photos
