Welcome to the local montain rescue team of Mürzzuschlag!
March 8th, 1896 was the key date of the Austrian Montain Rescue. Because of an serious accident on the Rax mountain all members of the mountain clubs decided to build an alpine rescue institution. So called "local sites" has been established, in the same year also the montain rescue team (MRT) of Mürzzuschlag, a member team of the Austrian Montain Rescue. 1906 there were already 173 rescue teams in the Eastern Alps active.

28.12.24: Mission on the Rax
A female mountaineer lost her bearings in the Trinksteinsattel - area, but made an emergency call just in time before nightfall. She was then located by the police helicopter and brought down into the valley. She was accompanied on the last part of the descent by two mountain rescuers from our local station. Fortunately, the alpinist survived the mishap unharmed.
20.12.24: Lift rescue exercise
After closing time, the annual chairlift rescue exercise was carried out in stormy, winterly conditions on the Stuhleck. The cooperation with the Stuhleck lift team was excellent. Afterwards there was a hearty snack in the Friedrichhütte.
31.8.24: Mission at the Mürzathlon and Semmering
Three of our comrades were on duty at the “Mürzathlon”. A runner who injured his shoulder was first treated by us and received pain therapy before being transported to hospital by the Red Cross. At the same time, we were called out to a fallen mountain biker on the Semmering. The injured man was given initial treatment by our comrades, together with the Semmering mountain rescue team and the crew of the emergency ambulance from the Red Cross Muerzzuschlag. He was then transported to hospital by rescue helicopter.
30.8.24: Exercise
An emergency drill took place on Friday evening. The task was to rescue 2 fallen and injured forestry workers from a canyon. Due to the inaccessible location of the injured, it was necessary to set up a ropeway for the rescue. The “injured” were treated and pulled up to the nearest forest road. See photos.
22.8.24: Mission at Rax
On Thursday, an exhausted hiker made an emergency call on the Rax. At the Bismarck via ferrata, which is very exposed and at risk of falling rocks, he didn't know what to do next. Comrades from our local station who happened to be at the Karl Ludwighaus and the hut owner, who is himself a member of the Tyrolean Mountain Rescue Service, were able to bring the hiker safely to the Karl Ludwighaus. The man, who had no climbing experience, was fed, spent the night in the refuge and returned home safely on Friday. See photo.
