Winter operation of the Mürzzuschlag mountain rescue in extremely demanding conditions.
If the regular winter practice of the Bergrettung Mürzzuschlag had to be postponed last year due to nearly summerly weather conditions, this year's training was very demanding.
Temperatures of - 18 °, storms up to 100 km / h and new snowfall of just under 1 meter allowed a perfect, but also very selective exercise frame.
22 members of the MRT Muerzzuschlag spent the Epiphany on the Rax and trained among other things the behavior in the avalanche-threatened alpine terrain as well as the search for possibly buried ones. In addition, analyzing of snow profiles for avalanche risk evaluation as well as the construction of emergency shelter by means of snow bivouac has been trained.
The great new snowfall and the strong storm made it possible, as curious as this may sound, best conditions.
After completing all the stations, all participants could finally warm up in the Waxriegelhaus and let the eventful day end.
