13.7.24: Operation at the Pinkenkogel
On Saturday, 2 hikers on the Semmering - Pinkenkogel area made an emergency call after they were surprised by a thunderstorm. They ran away from the storm and lost their bearings. We were able to locate them quickly using a cell phone and then accompanied them to their car, they were uninjured.
12.6.24: Mission on the Rax
While descending the Fuchslochsteig on the Rax, an alpinist lost his footing in a climbing passage, fell several meters and remained lying there seriously injured. A rescue operation by helicopter was not possible due to the wind conditions and fog. The mountain rescue team climbed to the scene with the planned rescue equipment and provided medical care for the person who had fallen. Once the patient had been stabilized, he was roped down over several hundred metres of steep rocky and craggy terrain using a special stretcher and a special mountain system. Below the high fog line, the patient was rescued by the emergency helicopter using a rope and then flown to hospital. Nine mountain rescuers from the Mürzzuschlag local unit, three officers from the Hochsteiermark Alpine Police and the ÖAMTC emergency helicopter were deployed.
26.4.22:Operation on the Stuhleck
On Thursday, our local station was alerted to an operation on the Stuhleck. During the descent after a ski tour, a dog running along was injured so that it could no longer move independently. The ski tourer and his dog were brought down to the valley with the help of our quad bike.
16.3.24: Mission on the Rax
During our planned lift exercise on the Stuhleck, we were alerted to an operation on the Rax. 3 people were undertaking a mountain tour on the Rax. The group arrived at the Karl-Ludwig-Haus at 2:15 p.m., but the weather became increasingly bad due to rising fog and wind. Despite the bad weather, the group decided to descend further and took a wrong turn, which led to rugged and steep terrain. At around 16:00, they made an emergency call and the police helicopter was notified. Due to the bad weather, however, no rescue activities could be undertaken. An alpine police officer and 17 comrades from our local station climbed up to the already hypothermic and severely weakened people. When the advance team, consisting of the alpine policeman and two mountain rescuers, came across the three people, they were given first aid. The whole group then descended together and the rescuers accompanied them down to the valley. All persons remained uninjured. See photos
